What Backgrounds Should I Use For A Lego Display
Poll: which background colour?
Posted past ,Recently I've been experimenting with shooting review photos confronting a white background, partly because I felt the greyness looked too night and also considering my grey vinyl curlicue has a lot of scratches on it that are a PITA to Photoshop out when photographing a large model.
So, I idea I'd endeavor an experiment with the colourful 40335 Space Rocket Ride to see what it looks similar on dissimilar colour backdrops so let you vote on which yous prefer.
All the pictures have been taken with a Panasonic G9 and Panasonic Leica 25mm f/1.4 lens, using fixed power flash and manually exposed (f/xiii, i/60s). They are all direct out the camera, only cropped square.
This is with the vinyl neutral grey. The colours popular, but the background looks a bit likewise dark.
This is the with the white properties. The white tail is lost somewhat and the light reflecting off the white background onto the shiny bricks has made their colour expect less saturated, particularly on the top of the yellow base, but it has helped make full the shadows under the rocket.
Here'southward a sail of grey card which isn't quite neutral: there's a slight warm colour cast. It'south lighter than the grey vinyl curl and darker, obivously, than the white, so the tail can be seen clearly and the reflection problem doesn't manifest itself then much. A good compromise, mayhap.
I've never shot on black but allow'due south meet how it looks anyhow:
I've used night blue in the past and with good reason: it'south a pleasant shade and the colours pop against it.
Finally, I'll try i of the pastel shades I have (blue, pink and greenish). Pinkish and green may well work with some models but probably not this 1, so hither'south the blueish:
They all accept pros and cons, but which ane do you adopt? I won't guarantee to use the winner in future bur information technology will certainly influence my determination.
